Ainslie Hepburn - Book Talk

In June 2023, Author Ainslie Hepburn visited Cultybraggan Camp on her book tour, promoting her book, "A Jew Who Defeated Nazism" about Herbert Sulzbach. Herbert was an important character in the story of Cultybraggan Camp when it was known as Camp 21 PoW Camp. He worked as an interpreter during 1945 and threw himself in to the task of 're-education' of the PoWs. He was passionate about impressing on the prisoners how Hitler had lied to them and, after Germany's defeat, giving them something new to believe in. Ainslie told us about his time at the camp and how, as a Jewish refugee from Germany, he at first believed all German soldiers to be Nazis but changed his view as he engaged with them.
